Breaking News: California To Release All Prisoners Who Seem Nice Enough
In an effort to reduce prison populations throughout the state, California governor Jerry Brown announced today that he would release all inmates who seemed as though they were nice enough people. “The goal of this new initiative is to gather a rough first impression of whether or not a prisoner is a decent-enough-seeming person, and to release him or her back into society based solely on that general gut reaction,” said Brown, adding that prison authorities would spend an estimated 12 minutes with each inmate to chat about “this and that” and decide whether or not a prisoner seemed like the friendly sort.
“Obviously, some might try to take a swing at the warden in the beginning, but if they calm down from there and maybe smile a few times, they’re probably fine.”
“ At press time, officials at San Quentin State Prison had determined that inmate Vincente “Lobo” Díaz came across as slightly eccentric, granted, but basically likable”.

I know there are many users who have hundreds, and in some case thousands, of Facebook ‘friends’; so how do they possibly read their feed?
I mean do they just simply go ahead and post: “I had a great BM this morning!”, or what?

Santorum: Doctors Providing Abortions To Rape And Incest Victims Should Be Criminally Charged
Via: Think Progress
Appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press this morning, former Senator and GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum offered two stunningly maximalist positions on abortion — abortion should be flatly banned even in cases of rape or incest, and doctors who perform abortions should face criminal charges:
QUESTION: Do you believe that there should be any legal exceptions for rape or incest when it comes to abortion?
SANTORUM: I believe that life begins at conception, and that that life should be guaranteed under the Constitution. That is a person.
QUESTION: So even in the case of rape or incest, that would be taking a life?
SANTORUM: That would be taking a life, and I believe that any doctor that performs an abortion, I would advocate that any doctor that performs an abortion, should be CRIMINALLY CHARGED for doing so.

Rep. Leonard Lance (R-NJ) ‘GOP Moron of the Day’
Via: Huffington: New Providence Patch
Lance faced several questions regarding the possibility of raising the income tax rate for the rich and ending corporate tax loopholes during the town hall.
“I pay a lot of taxes this year and I don’t have a problem paying more taxes,” one resident said to Lance. “People who make a lot of money should make a contribution back to society.”
Several attendees proposed to Lance returning to an upper tax rate similar to rates used prior to the 1986 reforming of the federal tax code, or to repeal the recently extended Bush tax cuts.
~~~
The audience aggressively questioned Lance over corporate tax rates and what they described as loopholes that allow large corporations to pay less taxes. The tax rate paid by GE took center stage in the discussion,.
“Those guys don’t pay a goddamn dime,” one attendee said to loud applause. “I apologize for swearing.”
Lance said the question would be better referred to President Obama, who has appointed GE Chairman Jeffrey Immelt as the chairman of an economic policy advisory board. He said he would like to see Obama question Immelt on why GE does not pay more taxes.
President Obama – State of the Union – 01/25/11
“For example, over the years, a parade of lobbyists (AND members of Congress) has rigged the tax code to benefit particular companies and industries. Those with accountants or lawyers to work the system can end up paying no taxes at all. But all the rest are hit with one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world. It makes no sense, and it has to change. (Applause.)
So tonight, I’m asking Democrats and Republicans to simplify the system. Get rid of the loopholes. Level the playing field. And use the savings to lower the corporate tax rate for the first time in 25 years — without adding to our deficit. It can be done. (Applause.)”
Tim Pawlenty: Bill O’Reilly ‘Playing The Race Card On Me?’
Via: Huffington Post
GOP White House hopeful Tim Pawlenty (see photo) is scoffing at claims that he’s too “nice” and too “bland” to take the political fight to President Barack Obama.
Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly said last week that Pawlenty (see photo) was “invisible” and that “Haagen Dazs could put his picture on vanilla.”
During an appearance on this weekend’s edition of “Fox News Sunday,” Pawlenty (see photo) asked host Chris Wallace if O’Reilly really used the word ‘vanilla’ to describe his persona. After Wallace confirmed the word choice, the presidential candidate joked, “Is he playing the race card on me?”
Wallace replied, “I don’t think so sir. I think he’s just talking about the taste, not the color.”
