Scarlett Johansson consults FBI after photos leaked

Via: The Examiner

There are probably plenty of people out there who would like to see what  Scarlett Johansson looks like in her birthday suit. But one of them is going to  be in a heap of trouble for going so far as to steal photos of the bodacious  beauty sans clothes.

TMZ reports that after nude photos of the recently divorced star surfaced  online, Scarlett asked the FBI to get involved. The photos were purportedly  self-taken with a cellphone, and authorities believe a crime may have been  committed: hacking into Scarlett’s phone to gain access to her personal  data.

“Heh heh heh, you said, ”The Examiner’.”

Rich Cheats Handed Over $2.7 Billion in Taxes on Offshore Accounts

Via: Atlantic Wire

The rich (see photo) pay taxes differently, apparently, than you and me.

Today the IRS said that a total of 30,000 individuals have come forward in a voluntary disclosure program for tax cheats that already has yielded the IRS $2.7 billion from offshore bank accounts in places like Switzerland and Bermuda, according to reports from the AP and Bloomberg. And yet, as one tax attorney told Bloomberg, it’s “still only a FRACTION of the people who have these accounts.”

The word “voluntarily” in the paragraph above maybe deserved some quotation marks, because the alternative to coming clean for a lot of these tax evaders is prosecution. The IRS has been cracking down on the wealthy who funnel money to offshore accounts as of late.

“The results we’re seeing today were unthinkable just a few short years ago,” IRS head honcho Douglas Shulman told the press today. “The world has clearly changed.”

But this may be it for the well-to-do willing to disclose. There had been two rounds of the program so far, and another tax attorney interviewed by Bloomberg doubts there will be a third one, given the moral hazard further rounds create. “It would be like catching a bus. You miss one and you wait for the next one,” he said.

Time to draw up the indictments.

personal thought:

That’s great to talk about ‘catching a second bus’ for tax cheats; but if someone is dealing crack on a ‘city bus’, does he/she get a 2nd chance?

“Mr. Walsh is a U.S. congressman”

Via: Think Progress

As ThinkProgress reported in July, Tea Party freshman Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), who relishes lecturing President Obama and Democrats on fiscal responsibility, owes more than $117,000 in child support to his ex-wife and three children. Despite loaning his own campaign $35,000 – and paying himself back at least $14,200 for the loans — Walsh has claimed he failed to make the payments because he “had no money.”

But yesterday a Chicago judge issued a preliminary ruling against Walsh, ordering him to explain why he is more than $100,000 behind in child support payments.

The judge also scolded Walsh for not attending the hearing personally, after his lawyer suggested he deserved special treatment because he is a congressman:

Cook County Circuit Judge Raul Vega also wanted to know why Walsh wasn’t in court Wednesday – the McHenry Republican’s ex-wife, Laura Walsh, was there — and initially said he expected him to show up for the next hearing.

In court, Walsh’s attorney, Janet Boyle, asked Vega “for what purpose” he wanted the congressman in court.

Vega gave her a puzzled look – to which Boyle responded: “Mr. Walsh is a U.S. congressman.”

“Well, he’s no different than anyone else,” the judge replied.

“BUT, I’m a U.S. congressman!”, said the ass-hole.

The audience yelled “YES!” he should be left to die

Via: Gawker

At CNN’s Tea Party-indulging debate on Monday, Ron Paul, a medical doctor, faced a pointed line of questioning from Wolf Blitzer regarding the case of an uninsured young man who suddenly found himself in dire need of intensive health care.

Should the state pay his bills? Paul responded, “That’s what freedom is all about: taking your own risks. This whole idea that you have to take care of everybody—”

He never quite finished that point, letting the audience’s loud applause finish it for him.

So Blitzer pressed on, asking if he meant that “society should just let him die,” which earned a chilling round of approving hoots from the crowd. Paul would not concede that much outright, instead responding with a personal anecdote, the upshot being that in such a case, it was up to churches to care for the dying young man. So basically, yeah. He’d let him die.

As it turns out, Paul was not speaking purely in hypotheticals. Back in 2008, Kent Snyder — Paul’s former campaign chairman — died of complications from pneumonia.

Like the man in Blitzer’s example, the 49-year-old Snyder (pictured) was relatively young and seemingly healthy* when the illness struck.

He was also uninsured.

When he died on June 26, 2008, two weeks after Paul withdrew his first bid for the presidency, his hospital costs amounted to $400,000. The bill was handed to Snyder’s surviving mother, who was incapable of paying.

Gordon Ramsay’s dwarf porn double Percy Foster dies in badger den

Via: Pearth Now

A DWARF porn star who was Gordon Ramsay’s double has been found dead in the most bizarre of circumstances, according to UK tabloid The Sunday Sport.

Percy Foster’s 3’6″ body was discovered in a badger’s den in Wales.

The report says the 35-year-old was found, “deep in an underground chamber by Ministry of Agriculture experts ahead of a planned badger-gassing program.”

Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of suicide.

In a recent interview Foster spoke of his excitement about his growing career as Ramsay’s double.

“Porn lookalikes get more money than normal actors. Dwarf lookalikes are as rare as hen’s teeth and so can command top dollar.

“I’ve already ordered a new BMW and a diamond-encrusted Soda Stream,” he said.

UPDATE: At press time, there is still no word what Mr. Ramsay was doing in the underground chamber with Mr. Foster and Mr. Badger; although, it can’t be good.
