Edward D’Ancona – Image Gallery

“Rhapsody in Black”

Although D’Ancona was a prolific pin-up artist who produced hundreds of enjoyable images, almost nothing is known about his background. He sometimes signed his paintings with the name “D’Amarie”, but his real name appears on numerous calendar prints published from the mid 1930s through the mid 1950s, and perhaps as late as 1960.

‘I am the 1 Percent’

(2 of 2) We Are the 99 Percent

I am 19 years old and work full time at McDonalds. I had cancer at the age of 18 and have all these medical bills to pay. I barely make enough money to pay the bills.

If it wasn’t for my free meal I get each time I work I wouldn’t be able to eat.

I am the 99%

We are the 99 Percent.

We are getting kicked out of our homes.

We are forced to choose between groceries and rent.

We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution.

We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we’re working at all.

We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything.

We are the 99 percent.

Brought to you by the people who occupy wall street.

Why will YOU occupy?

Please visit their website, and tell YOUR story.

And, if you want to help out: The Occupy Wall St. protesters can always use food and warm clothing. You can send non-perishable food, warm clothing, batteries, etc., to this address:

(1 of 2) Board of Trade Offers Job Counseling Advice for Occupy Chicago

Via: Chicagoist

Someone at the Chicago Board of Trade issued another message to the Occupy Chicago protesters by blanketing them with these McDonald’s job applications. The protesters are understandably offended by both the message and by the hundreds of pieces of new litter around them.

First the CBOT folks posted “We are the 1%” in their eighth floor windows a few weeks ago.

This is the second time they tossed flyers down from their ivory tower, too. They tossed down “We Are the 1% Paying For This” on Oct. 21.

In Hopes Someone Will Pay Attention, Romney Proposes Killing Medicare

Via: Wonkkette

Dull little rich boy Mitt Romney can’t get Republicans to love him, because he loves the Wrong Jesus and also was the creator of Obamacare in Taxachusetts.

The news media, meanwhile, will only write about where Herman Cain would’ve liked to stick his dong, and the money he paid to silence the ladies about his unseemly desires.

So how can Mitt Romney get “back in the spotlight,” where he’s never really been except as the butt of jokes?

By scaring the hell out of The Old People and proposing an end to Medicare!

Oh don’t worry, 99% of Americans who will require this health care – Mitt’s going to privatize it!

That way, some of Mitt’s favorite people (corporations) will still cash in while you die in the garbage behind the Senior Center.

The AP reports from some Tea Party event of old people:

The Republican presidential hopeful and former Massachusetts governor has released a broad plan to transform Medicare, the popular health-insurance program for the elderly

On Medicare, Romney’s plan is remarkably similar to the controversial proposal released by Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan earlier in the year. Romney hasn’t finalized many details, but he would offer future Medicare recipients an effective voucher to spend on private insurance or a version of the traditional program.

“The idea instead is to set the Medicare payment to provide each senior with money that they can go out use to go and buy a plan,” a senior Romney adviser said before the speech.

Well this should be wildly popular with the old white people the Republicans depend upon to keep the 1% plutocrats in power. After all, it worked super-well when George W. Bush suggested a similar fuckover of Social Security, remember?

Oh right, not even 9/11 could get that bullshit to smell better ….

Joe Walsh (R-IL) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Raw Story

The Family Research Council Action Committee has lauded freshman Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) for his “unwavering support of the family,” despite the fact that Walsh’s ex-wife claims he owes her more than $100,000 in child support payments.

The FRCA named Walsh a “True Blue” member of Congress, saying that his commitment to anti-abortion causes and his for voting record in support of, “faith, family and freedom,” were worthy of admiration.

“Cong. Walsh and other ‘True Blue Members’ have voted to repeal Obamacare, de-fund Planned Parenthood, end government funding for abortion within the health care law, uphold the Defense of Marriage Act, and continue support for school choice,” said FRCA President Tony Perkins, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Walsh, a Tea Party favorite in Congress, has been caught in a court battle for months after his wife sued him for some $117,000 in missed child support payments. Walsh has disputed that figure, and claimed that his meager savings aren’t enough to cover the cost of child suport payments.

Yet Walsh managed to loan his congressional campaign at least $35,000 last year, raising doubts about the validity of his claims.

As a result, the nonpartisan Citizens for Ethics in Washington included Walsh on their list of the most corrupt members of Congress list.

That the FRC chose to applaud Walsh is not entirely surprising given the group’s hyper-specific focus on promoting conservative Christian values in American politics, most notably its fiercely anti-gay positions. The Southern Poverty Law Center even designated the organization as a hate group because of its harsh anti-gay rhetoric.
