John Enright (R-AZ) – GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Raw Story

A Republican candidate for supervisor in Pinal County, Arizona has with withdrawn following allegations that his former companion continued to cast absentee ballots five years after her death.

‘Voting While Dead’

In a statement issued by his attorneys, John Enright said he was quitting “for several reasons, including an almost year-long battle with cancer,” but did not address the voter fraud allegations, according the The Arizona Republic.

Several weeks ago, the Pinal County Recorder’s Office received an anonymous letter that claimed that absentee ballots had been cast by Sheila Nassar as late as this this year, even though she had died on Feb. 3, 2007. Enright had lived with with Nassar until the time of her death.

In a YouTube video released on Saturday, Enright’s new wife, Sharon Keiser, sits beside him while he explains that he was “surprised” to learn of the voter fraud allegations surrounding Nassar, who he called his “life companion” and former high school girlfriend.

“What I can say is I look forward to learning more about these allegations,” the then-candidate insists in the video. “If they are indeed formal allegations, I will defend myself (yeah, sure you will). I very much look forward to clearing my name.”

Romney – British reaction, “Worse than Sarah Palin” (see gif)

Via: Democratic Underground

The British reaction to Mitt Romney has gone from openness, to skepticism, to mocking, to concluding that Mitt Romney is worse than Sarah Palin.

Daily Mail Political Editor James Chapman has been providing the world a play by play of Romney’s British implosion via his Twitter account. Romney started things off by criticizing London’s preparedness for the Olympics. He then forgot the name of British Labour Leader Ed Miliband, and then he admitted that he had been given a secret briefing by MI6. This led the British to ask aloud if they have another George W. Bush (remember, him?) on their hands,

“Romney blunders again by revealing he’s had (supposedly) top secret briefing by John Sawers, MI6 boss. Do we have a new Dubya on our hands?”

After his visit to Whitehall, Chapman offered two of the kinder reviews of Mitt Romney, “Serious dismay in Whitehall at Romney debut. ‘Worse than Sarah Palin.’Total car crash’. Two of the kinder verdicts.”

Chapman also reported another verdict from British meet and greet with Mitt, “Another verdict from one Romney meeting: ‘Apparently devoid of charm, warmth, humour or sincerity’”

Romney: “England [sic] is a tiny island that makes stuff no one wants”

Via: Foreign Policy

Mitt Romney has already gotten in a ‘spot of trouble’ in London for suggesting that Britain may not be quite ready to host the Olympic Games. Romney has walked back his comments, but it’s not the first time the candidate has said some not-so-flattering things about the Sceptered Isle.

In his book, No Apology, he writes:

“England [sic] is just a small island. Its roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesn’t make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy. And if it hadn’t been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler’s ambitions. Yet only two lifetimes ago, Britain ruled the largest and wealthiest empire in the history of humankind. Britain controlled a quarter of the earth’s land and a quarter of the earth’s population.”

Romney, jus’ keeping “the special relationship, special”

personal thought:

So when Romney visits Jeruslem, is he going to quote his idol, St. Ronnie, and say?

“Tear Down This Wall!

Man, I wouldn’t bet against it.

Romney/Cameron – London Olympics

WILLARD ‘even dumber, than GW Bush’ ROMNEY:

“It’s hard to know just how well it will turn out,” he said of the games and the lapses in security that have surrounded them, “There are a few things that were disconcerting. The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials – that obviously is not something which is encouraging.”

He also questioned British people’s willingness to embrace the Games.

“Do they come together and celebrate the Olympic moment?” he asked. “That’s something which we only find out once the Games actually begin.”

U.K. Prime Mniinster, DAVID CAMERON:

“We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world.

Of course it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere (Salt Lake City).”

London Mayor Boris Johnson called out Mitt  Romney during a rallying cry for the London Olympics, which begin  Friday.

According to The Daily Mail, Johnson spoke to a crowd of  about 60,000 at a concert that ended the Olympic torch relay and addressed  Romney’s comment to NBC’s Brian Williams last night that the preparations have  been “disconcerting.”

“There are some people coming from around the world who don’t yet  know if we are ready,” Johnson shouted.

“There’s a guy called Mitt Romney who wants to know whether we are  ready. Are we ready?”
