August 1936.

“Family between Dallas and Austin. The people have left their home and connections in South Texas, and hope to reach the Arkansas Delta for work in the cotton fields. Penniless people. No food and three gallons of gas in the tank. The father is trying to repair a tire. Three children. Father says, ‘It’s tough but life’s tough anyway you take it.'”

John Cabello (R-IL) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Huffington Post

Illinois State Rep. John Cabello (R-Rockford) reportedly told a tea party group earlier this month that he’s not clear whether his state’s civil union law applies to humans, or if “somebody can get married to their dog” as well.

The comments were made during the Rockford Tea Party forum on October 6, according to a Wednesday report by Kate Sosin at Windy City Times. Video of Cabello’s speech was published to YouTube, but the paper said that access to the footage was revoked after they called the teabagger group for comment.

Reached by Raw Story, Cabello’s aides had no comment, explaining they hadn’t seen the report. No calls were returned after a copy of the report was forwarded to both his district office and his office at the capital, and a message left with his campaign went unanswered.

His opponent’s campaign, however, was happy to talk.

“It’s highly offensive that Mr. Cabello would compare homosexual relationships with bestiality,” Steve Spagnolo, campaign manager for Carl Wasco (D), told Raw Story. “It’s nonsensical at least and has no place in the realm of public officials saying such outrageously offensive things. More than one out of every 200 Rockford city households have a member that is a lesbian or gay individual and to so blatantly offend those individuals is outrageous.”

‘Romney’s Secret Plan to [Fill in the Blank]’ – Alan Grayson

Via: Huffington Post

I watched the presidential debate last night. There was a general absence of NASCAR moments, although Romney’s insistence that the president actually didn’t say what the president actually did say about the Benghazi attack came close. Leaving that aside, the impression that I was left with is that Romney is running a giant con game, and the American people are his marks.

Romney has a secret plan to cut unemployment.

Romney has a secret plan to eliminate the federal deficit.

Romney has a secret plan to cut the cost of higher education.

Romney has a secret plan to eliminate tax deductions and exemptions and credits.

Romney has a secret plan to cut federal spending.

Romney has a secret plan for equal pay for women.

Romney has a secret plan for health care reform.

Yeah, right. Whatever. And that was just the first 30 minutes.

Many elections turn on the issue of CREDIBILITY. This presidential race will turn on the issue of GULLIBILITY.

The Romney campaign begs the question:

Are we really so easily taken in?

Are we all babes in the woods?

Did we all just crawl out of the cabbage patch?

Has Uncle Sam become Uncle Sucker?

I hope not.
