Obamacare Website May Be Broken, But AARP’s Got It Covered

President Obama Visits Boston To Talk About Health Care

Obama administration officials are scrambling to fix their broken Obamacare enrollment website, but in the meantime, the AARP is coming to the rescue.

The massive organization that says it represents people older than 50 has launched its own website, HealthLawAnswers.org, that helps people find out about health insurance eligibility options — and it actually works.

The site is simple enough. A person answers seven questions that determine what insurance options are available to them, based on state, gender, age, income and other factors. In less than a minute, the site spits out a customized report on health insurance options available to that person and includes contact information for their state’s health insurance provider.

The site also emphasizes that people can ENROLL in Obamacare not just through healthcare.gov, but also via phone, mail or in person.

One more time:

– via phone

– via mail

– or, in person

And yeah, I LOVE Obamacare, too!

Q: HOW do you reduce ABORTIONS in the U.S.? – A: Obamacare

Q: Is birth control covered by these new public plans?

A: It’s better than that—since 2012, all health insurance has been mandated to cover all the costs of birth control. So not only do the new public plans cover the cost of birth control, anyone with private insurance shouldn’t be shelling out a co-pay for birth control, either. Yay!

The only plans that do not currently cover birth control without co-pays are “grandfathered” plans: plans created before March 2010 (when the President signed the healthcare law) that haven’t made significant changes yet. Fortunately, these plans are required to make changes soon and eventually the distinction between the two plans will disappear.

Q: What kind of birth control is covered?

A: All of the kinds! Health insurance covers the cost of all of the different kinds of FDA-approved birth control and sterilization procedures, including long-term options like like IUDs and implants. This is great news because long-term birth control options are incredibly effective but the high upfront cost can keep them from being accessible to everyone. However, some insurance companies will not pay for the brand-name version of a birth control method if there is a generic version offered.

Budget Deficit shrinks to FIVE-YEAR low

Via: MSNBC

1

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) recently appeared on FOX NEWS and when the discussion turned to the budget, the Virginia Republican said lawmakers should be “focused on trying to deal with the ultimate problem, which is this growing deficit.”

In reality, the deficit is NOT GROWING; it’s SHRINKING. The AP reported this afternoon:

For the first time in five years, the U.S. government has run a budget deficit below $1 trillion.

The government says the deficit for the 2013 budget year totaled $680.3 billion, down from $1.09 trillion in 2012. That’s the smallest imbalance since 2008, when the government ran a $458.6 billion deficit.

This isn’t a surprising, at least not to the policy mainstream. Many congressional Republicans predicted tax increases on the wealthy that began in January would fail to lower the deficit, but as is usually the case, the opposite happened.

The combination of new tax revenue and reduced spending did what exactly what was expected – it reduced the nation’s budget shortfall.

This is the fastest deficit reduction seen in the United States since the end of World War II.

personal thoughts:

1. Employment is ALSO up, which means more people are paying taxes.

2. However, the wealthy and corporations are finding more and more ways to avoid paying their ‘fair share’.

3. Reducing ‘wasteful COSTS’ is fine, but we need to start doing a better job of collecting ‘REVENUE’.
