Petition To Deport Piers Morgan For Gun Control Support Reaches 60,000 Signatures

Via: Thnk Progress

A petition to deport CNN host Piers Morgan (see photo) over his heated comments on gun control has reached more than 62,000 signatures in just 4 days, far exceeding the threshold required for a White House response. A petition must get 25,000 signatures in 30 days in order to elicit a response.

In the wake of the elementary school shooting in Connecticut that left 27 dead, Morgan has become a vocal advocate for tighter gun regulations. Specifically, he is calling for a ban on high-capacity magazines and assault weapons, as well as strict background checks on gun sales. According to the petition, Morgan’s comments are no less than “a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution”.

Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Raw Story

Soledad O’Brien: “At the end of the day, that same number crunching was voted on by virtually every single Republican in 2011 and then again in 2012. That is fair to say,” O’Brien pointed out, adding that both Romney and Ryan had promised to “save” Medicare by turning it into a “voucher program.”

Chaffetz: “No, it’s not!”

O’Brien: “It’s not a voucher program?”

Chaffetz: “It is not a voucher program. It is a premium support, and that is totally different than a voucher program. And every time somebody says, ‘Oh, it’s a voucher program,’ it’s false, it’s misleading, it’s derogatory and it’s inaccurate. That is not what it does.”

O’Brien: “You will give people money to go and buy their own insurance, right? But we’re arguing over symantics. At the end of the day, isn’t it — you would give someone money to buy their own insurance.”

Chafffetz: “No, a premium support program is different than a voucher program.”

O’Brien: “Walk me through how it’s different.”

Chaffetz: “Because some people that have maybe more needs or medical needs or they have less income, they’re going to have more flexibility and more assets to go and do what they need to do in order to have some choice and flexibility and create competition in the marketplace.”

O’Brien: “Which is they get a VOUCHER TO GO BUY SOMETHING!”.

personal thought:

SENIORS: I think the proposed $8,000 per year ‘premium support program’ VOUCHER might be enough IF you remain healthy.

However, IF you have a chronic condition, or say you need a by-pass or hip replacement, you are absolutely f*cked!

Q: Let’s say you have a pre-existing condition (heart diesease, diabetes, etc, etc) what comany in their right mind would insure you?

A: No company will, and you will be UN-INSURED!

The Best Totally Wrong Predictions of the Republican Primary

Via: Atlantic Wire

There are many crazy-ass predictions, but my favorite:

Prediction: Perry is unstoppable.

Prognosticator: CNN’s James Moore

Date: August 31, 2011

Quote: “Perry (see above) will win the Iowa caucuses easily because Michele Bachmann will be running out of money and will have scared the party leadership. In New Hampshire, he will at least finish close to Romney, and in South Carolina he will affirm his run by winning the delegates necessary to seal up the nomination. Perry will take South Carolina by a margin wider than his credibility gap. Romney has the money and the infrastructure (and faltering judgment) to hang tough until Super Tuesday on March 6, but Perry will easily pocket wins in Texas, Virginia, Oklahoma and Tennessee. With the nomination wrapped up, Perry will then start talking about jobs and the economy instead of Jesus.”

Reality: Perry came in fifth in Iowa, sixth in New Hampshire, and dropped out before South Carolina.

Rick Perry Bungeeing His Way to ZERO, But CNN Letting Him Debate Anyway

Via: Wonkette

CNN decided Wednesday to let Rick Perry into its upcoming Republican debate in South Carolina January 19, despite the fact that he technically doesn’t qualify for it, since his polling average is not that much higher than the average of people who aren’t even in the race anymore. “Oh but he’s fun!,” they cry, and this isn’t so shocking from the network that tries to please everybody by pleasing no one.

“He has met the criteria,” a CNN spokesperson told Talking Points Memo, and when TPM followed up asking what exact criteria that was, they didn’t not “immediately,” and may not ever, receive clarification. CNN’s eligibility requirements for the debate are pretty clear-cut, and Perry just doesn’t make them.

Since it will be awhile until we can experience the anti-anxiety and comedic power of Perry’s performance, TPM also has this delightful slideshow of “things that are less steep than Rick Perry’s drop in the polls.”

Specifically, the roofs of historic buildings, with Perry “posing” in front of those buildings, looking like the confused paper doll that he so often appears to be. [TPM]

We Are the 99 Percent

This is in response to Erick Erickson and his pointless blog: I love my country, I love being American. I am not against capitalism, but I AM against corporate welfare for companies who made poor business decisions while I’m working my butt off trying to find a job. I deserve better than this, 99% of Americans deserve better than this. I am the 99% #OWS

If I might add: FUCK YOU, Erick Erickson!

We are suffering from environmental pollution.

We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we’re working at all.

We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything.

We are the 99 percent. Brought to you by the people who occupy wall street.

Why will YOU occupy?

Please visit their website, and tell YOUR story.

And, if you want to help out:

Is Piers Morgan next?

Via: Huffington Post

Piers Morgan may be the next person to become entangled in the British media’s ever-widening scandal, as members of Parliament have begun calling for the CNN host and former Daily Mirror editor to come in for questioning on phone hacking at the Mirror and other British tabloids.

The calls came after it was revealed that Morgan, who replaced Larry King in January and was editor at News of the World before going to the Mirror in 1995, has known about phone hacking techniques since at least 2001.

British blogger Guido Fawkes posted the following excerpts from Morgan’s 2005 autobiography:

“Apparently if you don’t change the standard security code that every phone comes with, then anyone can call your number and, if you don’t answer, tap in the standard four digit code to hear all your messages. I’ll change mine just in case, but it makes me wonder how many public figures and celebrities are aware of this little trick.”

The blogger alleges that Morgan was aware that phone hacking was used to write a story  about an affair between Swedish television presenter Ulrika Jonsson and football manager Sven-Göran Eriksson in April 2002.

The story later won Morgan the “Scoop of the Year” prize at the British Press Awards.

Q: Will Morgan be the next to go?

A: Gawd, I hope so; and NO, I don’t want CNN to bring back King!
