Bubbles and Bella

Bubbles, a 9,000-pound elephant, and Bella, the Labrador retriever, are the very best of friends. They live together at the Myrtle Beach Safari in South Carolina. And luckily, the park has documented some of the pair’s adorable interspecies playdates.

Sometimes, Bubbles and Bella go for walks together. Other times, they go for long swims. At all times, we are completely enthralled by the two of them.

Bubbles was adopted by the safari in 1983, according to the video above. Then, in 2007, a contractor hired to build Bubbles a swimming pool abandoned puppy Bella at the park’s preserve. And so, a beautiful friendship was born.

personal thought:

In a more perfect world, everyone would have a dog, AND an elephant.

‘Dan, and his dog named Bo’

Via: Good Stuff Happened Today

1

Officer Dan Waskiewicz of the Baltimore Police Department responded to a call about a vicious dog chasing kids. He later wrote about the experience:

~

I followed the dog into an ally to see how it was acting. Going on my own approach, being a dog lover, I got out of my car and called the “vicious dog” over to me. The dog came over with it’s tail between it’s legs and panting.

I grabbed my water bottle and the dog sat down next to me and began licking my pants. I started giving the dog water.

I brought the dog over and waited for the pound to show up.

My partner was not a fan of dogs and was startled by my approach. I suggested to him that this dog cannot be put down, and should be taken to a shelter.

We took it upon ourselves to take the dog to the shelter, and transported it in the back seat in the back of our patrol car. Then I decided that I wanted to keep the dog, and spoke to the shelter about the steps to take to adopt it.

So now “Bo” has a new home with Waskiewicz and two other dogs.

“Police!”

This man was cruising through Central Park, while his dog jogged out in front of him.

“They keep trying to give us tickets,” said the man, “So I taught him a trick. Watch this.”

He shouted: “Police!”

And the dog jumped up on the scooter.

Dog Finds A Tiny Kitten, Risks Everything To Save Her

1

Via: Good Stuff Happened Today

Anderson, South Carolina

Animal control officer Michelle Smith got a call about a yelping dog behind a Home Depot. She climbed down a steep embankment to find a shih tzu, tangled in a mess of briars. But she looked more closely, she realized Goldie had a friend: a tiny kitten who was nursing at the dog’s side.

“I didn’t know what to think,” Smith told Fox News 10. “I was shocked and surprised and then of course, awww.”

“I think it would have been OK for the dog to walk down the hill,” Smith told Fox Carolina. “But it just didn’t want to leave the kitten”

The dog and kitten were taken to the Anderson County P.A.W.S. shelter, where they remained inseparable and the dog continued to care for the kitten as one of her own. Eventually, the pair were taken to a foster home — together, of course.

FLORIDA – motorist shoots man after dog runs in front pickup

1

Via: Raw Story

A Florida man is recovering from a gunshot wound after a motorist became angry and pulled a gun because a loose dog forced his pickup truck to stop.

Peter Harbachuk, 46, told the Tampa Bay Times that he and his wife were walking their 4-year-old golden retriever, Bella, when the dog escaped from her leash.

Bella darted in front of a pickup truck, forcing the vehicle to stop. After coming to a halt, a woman got out of the truck to yell at the couple.

That’s when the woman got back in the pickup, and a man emerged with a gun.

“Some dude hopped out and he pointed a gun toward my head,” Harbachuk recalled. “I said, ‘Hey. This doesn’t have to go down like this.’”

The man then lowered his aim slightly, closed his eyes and fired a round into Harbachuk’s leg, he explained. The couple in the truck fled the scene before police and paramedics could arrive.

St. Petersburg police were searching for a clean-shaven, muscular, 5-foot, 10-inch tall man between 30 and 35 years old. The woman was thought be about 5 foot, 5 inches and 20 to 25 years old. She was petite with short brown hair. The suspects may have been traveling in a dark Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Harbachuk said that he doesn’t understand how the situation escalated so quickly.

This could’ve been ANYONE. It could’ve been my wife,” he insisted to the Tampa Bay Times. “It could have been just any person walking down the street.”
