GOP ‘Minority Outreach’

Via: Raw Story

Texas Tea Party Republican Chris Mapp’s bid to unseat Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has garnered attention not for his policy views, but for his use and defense of the anti-Latino slur “WETBACKS” during a meeting with one of the state’s biggest newspapers.

The Huffington Post reported that the 53-year-old businessman used the term during an interview earlier this month with the editorial board of the Dallas Morning News, saying that “ranchers should be allowed to shoot on sight anyone illegally crossing the border on to their land.”

He also reportedly referred to President Barack Obama as a “Socialist Son of a Bitch.”

The Morning News noted Mapp’s remarks while endorsing Cornyn on Feb. 16, in part because of Cornyn’s support for immigration reform. Meanwhile, Mapp was listed among the rest of the other GOP contenders, who were described as “less informed, little known and generally offer extreme, vague or impractical ideas.” (yeah, you think?)

“Quote of the Day”

“In the end, the American Dream is not a sprint, or even a marathon, but a  relay.

Our families don’t always cross the finish line in one generation.

But  each generation passes on to the next generation the fruits of their labors….  My mother fought for civil rights so that instead of a mop, I could hold this  microphone.”

Aide: Romney values ‘Anglo-Saxon’ (WHITE) ties

Via: UPI

Mitt  Romney would restore  an “Anglo-Saxon” touch to U.S.-British ties that  President Barack Obama doesn’t value, an aide said as Romney was to arrive in London.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee — who begins a weeklong trip  to Britain, Israel and Poland Wednesday — is better placed to understand the  “special relationship” (because he’s white) between the United States and Britain than Obama, whose  father was from Africa (because he’s black), the adviser told the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph in remarks the newspaper speculated might prompt accusations of racial  insensitivity (yeah, ya think?).

“We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and [Romney] feels that the special relationship is special,” the adviser said, adding, “The [Obama] White House  didn’t fully appreciate the shared history we have (SEE PHOTO).”

personal thought:

I spent ’04 and ’05 in the U.K., and the ‘anti-Americanism’ was very evident because many Brits felt the U.S. had suckered ‘Blair – the poodle’ into the war.

I believe for ther most part, I was able to convince them, I did NOT vote for Bush!
