(1 of 2) LDS Church condemns recent proxy baptism of Anne Frank

Via: Fox13Now.com – Salt Lake City

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has condemned the recent proxy baptism of Anne Frank, the Jewish girl whose diary of hiding from the Nazis has provided generations with a first-hand account of life during the Holocaust.

Frank is the third Holocaust victim to have received a “baptism for the dead” in recent weeks. The baptism is a violation of a pact the LDS Church made in 1995 to no longer proxy baptize Holocaust victims. The LDS Church confirmed it happened over the weekend at the faith’s temple in the Dominican Republic.

The LDS Church has since condemned the proxy baptism, calling is a violation of their policy and believe it took a great deal of “deception” for it to happen.

Annelies MarieAnneFrank; 12 June 1929 – early March 1945) was one of the most renowned and most discussed Jewish victims of the Holocaust.

Acknowledged for the quality of her writing, her diary has become one of the world’s most widely read books, and has been the basis for several plays and films.

“Quote of the Day”

Via: Christian(?)NewsWire

“Listen, if Mitt Romney wants to wear magical underwear with Satanic markings that he believes protects him and thinks he will die and become the god of his own planet with an endless supply of women to create spirit babies with, that is up to him.

I think it is journalistic malpractice for the media not to at least tell the truth about what Romney and those in his cult believe, while calling anyone with the guts to tell the truth about his cult a bigot.

It is inexcusable for Christian leaders like Graham, Osteen, a respected Christian like Starr, and any other true Christian to help perpetuate the lie Mormons are Christians without any concern for the fact the Bible states those who believe a false gospel will die and their souls lost for eternity in hell!”

Judy Manning (R-GA) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Think Progress

One obstacle that Mitt Romney may face as he asks for the support of Republican primary voters is bigotry against the Mormon faith.

A Marietta Daily Journal story published yesterday demonstrates the bigotry that Romney may have to overcome. The Journal quotes Republican state Rep. Judy Manning saying that she’s scared of Romney’s Mormon faith. But at least he’s “better than a Muslim” (a not so subtle reference to President Obama, perhaps?) :

“I think Mitt Romney is a nice man, but I’m afraid of his Mormon faith,” Manning said. “It’s better than a Muslim. Of course, every time you look at the TV these days you find an ad on there telling us how normal they are. So why do they have to put ads on the TV just to convince us that they’re normal if they are normal … If the Mormon faith adhered to a past philosophy of pluralism, multi-wives, that doesn’t follow the Christian faith of one man and one woman, and that concerns me.”
