Vance McCallister (R-LA) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Ouachita Citizen

Congressman Vance McAllister issued a statement Monday afternoon “asking for forgiveness” after The Ouachita Citizen first reported McAllister was captured in a video recording passionately kissing and embracing a member of his congressional staff.

“There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness,” McAllister said in a statement. “I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve. Trust is something I know has to be earned whether your a husband, a father, or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone I’ve disappointed.”

Fifth District Congressman Vance McAllister, who campaigned for office last fall as a DEVOUT CHRISTIAN and DEVOTED HUSBAND and FATHER, was caught in video surveillance two days before Christmas passionately embracing and kissing one of his congressional aides.

~

The woman who McAllister, 40, was caught kissing for almost half a minute (HALF a MINUTE!) is Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock, 33, of 400 Zachary Way, Sterlington. She is McAllister’s district scheduler.

McAllister did not respond to calls to comment. His chief of staff, Adam Terry, said he would respond by noon Monday. The Ouachita Citizen did not receive a statement from McAllister or Terry.

Peacock was contacted by The Ouachita Citizen as well. She did not answer her cell phone.

Peacock donated $5,200 to McAllister’s congressional campaign last fall, according to the Federal Election Commission. According to the FEC, Peacock listed her employment at the time of the donation as a self-employed cosmetologist (comotologist – yeah right!)

She joined McAllister’s congressional staff after he took office in November. Photographs posted to Facebook show Peacock was involved in a number of McAllister’s campaign events during last fall’s congressional race.

Peacock’s husband, Heath Peacock, 34, also donated $5,200 to McAllister’s congressional campaign last fall, according to the FEC. At the time of his donation to McAllister’s campaign, Heath Peacock listed his employment as an inspector for Wilcrest Field Services, according to the FEC. According to his Linkedin page, Peacock now works offshore as an assistant chief inspector for Wood Group Mustang.

Personal thought:

The only question I have is: can Louisiana pass the South Carolina in the ‘GOP sleeze race’?

Bobby Jindal (R-LA) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: FreakOutNation

The National Governors Association is typically an effort to bring Democrats and Republicans together in a BIPARTISAN, but instead Gov. Bobby Jindal broke protocol and launched an attack on President Obama which was described by Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy as “the most insane statement I’ve ever heard.”

~

Gov Bobby Jindal insists he’s not insane, which is exactly what an insane person would say.

ALL of Them (R-LA) – ‘GOP Morons of the Day’

According to a Public Policy Polling survey, 29 percent of Louisiana Republicans say President Obama is more to blame for the botched executive branch response to Hurricane Katrina while just 28 percent blamed George W. Bush.

A plurality of 44 percent said they were unsure who was more responsible, even though Hurricane Katrina occurred over THREE YEARS BEFORE before Obama entered the presidency when he was still a freshman Senator.

Louisiana Thinks Funding School Run By ‘Apostle And Prophet’ Is Somehow Constitutional

Via: Wonkette

Louisiana’s exciting experiment in public-school vouchers is steaming forward, providing parents and children with educational excellence and traditional values, hooray!

But that’s not all!

It’s also an excellent lesson in how the free market can improve education, by taking taxpayer funds from the wasteful public schools and handing it to efficient private schools run by religious loons, just the way Real America wants.

Among the 119 voucher schools approved so far is New Orleans’ Light City Christian Academy, founded and run by Apostle Leonard Lucas.

The state’s voucher program will be sending this gentleman, who “walks in the fullness of his calling and wears the mantle of an Apostle and Prophet,” some $364,000 to educate 80 students ($364,000 / 80 = $4,550).

(2 of 2) – Jindal’s ‘Louisiana School Voucher Program’ – Science syllabus

What they now will teach in Louisiana:

“Bible-believing Christians cannot accept any evolutionary interpretation. Dinosaurs and humans were definitely on the earth at the same time and may have even lived side by side (See photo) within the past few thousand years.”

Life Science, 3rd ed., Bob Jones University Press, 2007

Via: Huffington Post:

Under Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal’s sweeping new school voucher program, tens of millions of Louisiana taxpayer dollars will be used to offer vouchers to more than half of the state’s poor and middle-class public school students.

These students can in turn use these vouchers to attend more than 120 private schools, including a number of small, Bible-based learning institutions that boast extreme anti-science and anti-history curriculums while championing creationism.

Earlier this week, C. Welton Gaddy, the president of a national multi-faith religious group, blasted Jindal’s program in a letter to the governor, claiming the effort represents “a ruthless attack on public education” and violates the separation of church and state.

What they will now teach in Louisiana:

“Perhaps the best known work of propaganda to come from the Depression was John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath…

Other forms of propaganda included rumors of mortgage foreclosures, mass evictions, and hunger riots and exaggerated statistics representing the number of unemployed and homeless people in America.”

Jindal Bores GOP To Tears In Castro-Length Veep-Tryout Speech

Via: Wonkette

Oh Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. Why do you still try to talk at people?

Don’t you remember the last time you had an audience, when you skulked around corners in your haunted mansion to give the hilarious response to the State of the Union, the unkind comparisons to Mr. Burns, and a skeleton, and Mr. Burns’s skeleton?

Remember how everyone mocked you for trying to score cheap political points on spending money on — get this haw haw! — volcano monitoring about five seconds before that terrorist Iceland volcano shut down Europe?

Because you are an asshole?

Well apparently in addition to being an asshole, you are also super boring and not very self-aware and make people wait 45 minutes listening to you yammer about yourself and your transformative changes before you will let them eat their vittles, and everyone makes fun of you and people laugh.

~

Dinner waited in the wings until he finished, right around the 45-minute mark.

“I can assure you that I will speak shorter than our prior speakers, because the food is here,” said State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos when he finally took to the podium, to laughs and cheers.

No, bring Bobby Jindal back!

We want to hear more about his dad for five hours, and jokes about port-o-potties while people are waiting to eat.

Mitt Romney should look no further, Bobby Jindal is the future of zzzzzzz.

John Fleming (R-LA) – yet another, ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Think Progress

Fool him once, shame on you. Fool him once with a widely circulated and obviously fake story from satirical newspaper The Onion that was published nine months ago? Yeah, that’s all on him.

Congressman John ‘dumb-ass’ Fleming (R-LA) is going to have a rough news cycle after his office posted a link to an outrageous story about Planned Parenthood’s intentions to build an $8 BILLION “abortionplex,” complete with shopping mall, movie theater and three-story night club.

It’s a laughable commentary on the outrageous charges that anti-choice groups use to attack Planned Parenthood, from one of the finest purveyors of satire, but the joke appears to have been lost on Fleming.

~

“More on Planned Parenthood, abortion by the wholesale,” wrote Rep. Fleming.
