Breaking News – Tips for an Unarmed Black Teen

Via: The Onion: America’s Finest News Source

1

  • Shy away from dangerous, heavily policed areas.
  • Avoid swaggering or any other confident behavior that suggests you are not completely subjugated.
  • Be sure not to pick up any object that could be perceived by a police officer as a firearm, such as a cell phone, a food item, or nothing.
  • Explain in clear and logical terms that you do not enjoy being shot, and would prefer that it not happen.
  • Don’t let society stereotype you as a petty criminal. Remember that you can be seen as so much more, from an armed robbery suspect, to a rape suspect, to a murder suspect.
  • Try to see it from a police officer’s point of view: You may be unarmed, but you’re also black.
  • Avoid wearing clothing associated with the gang lifestyle, such as shirts and pants.
  • Revel in the fact that by simply existing, you exert a threatening presence over the nation’s police force.
  • IMPORTANT:Be as polite and straightforward as possible when police officers are kicking the shit out of you.

Missouri – ‘Cops Gone Wild’, again

Via: Raw Story

1

A Missouri police officer is accused of taking two underage women to his house, supplying alcohol, and raping one of them.

Livingston County sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday arrested 40-year-old Brent Schade, a Chillicothe police officer, on suspicion of rape, sodomy, and supplying alcohol to a minor.

Officers also arrest 20-year-old Amanda Gault in connection with the case.

Another 20-year-old woman told deputies she went earlier this week with Gault to Schade’s home, where they played drinking games.

The couple then forced her into a bedroom, according to investigators, where she was sexually assaulted.

ALL of the Akins (R-MO) – ‘GOP Morons of the Day’

Via: TPM

Todd Akin’s campaign advised Democrats on Thursday that their best hope of beating him would be to DEMAND Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) step down as a candidate.

His comments came after pollster Rasmussen released a survey showing him trailing McCaskill 48 PERCENT to 38 PERCENT in Missouri’s Senate race, a stunning implosion (BOOM!), if accurate, given that he led all polls before his “legitimate rape” remarks led GOP leaders to disown his campaign. Akin’s campaign, however, believes the poll is encouraging news.

“The fact that Claire McCaskill is only polling at 48 percent after 72 hours of constant negative attacks on Todd Akin shows just how weak she is,” Perry Akin, the congressman’s campaign manager and son (See photo), said in a statement Thursday.

Todd Akin (R-MO) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Washington Post

Rep. Todd Akin, the newly-christened GOP Senate nominee in Missouri, said in an interview airing Sunday that “legitimate rape” rarely causes pregnancy.

Explaining his no-exceptions policy on abortions, Akin was asked why he opposes abortion even when the pregnancy is the result of rape.

“First of all, from what I understand from doctors, (pregnancy from rape) is really rare,” Akin told KTVI-TV in a clip posted to YouTube by the Democratic super PAC American Bridge. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

Todd Akin (R-MO) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Raw Story

Republican Rep. Todd Akin, who is running for Senate in Missouri, on Wednesday said that emergency contraceptive pills should be outlawed.

“As far as I’m concerned, the morning-after pill is a form of abortion,” he told KCMO’s Greg Knapp, “and I think we shouldn’t have abortion in this country.”

Akin suggested there should be NO EXCEPTIONS for RAPE or INCEST.

Note: I’m not sure what $1.75 was worth in 1910; but in 1913 it was worth $40.67 in 2012 dollars.

Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Wonkette

What do you think about Obama’s birth certificate being called a forgery?” asked a man who identified himself as an Army veteran.

“You know I have a lot of doubts about all that,” she said. “I don’t understand why he didn’t show that right away.”

When asked to clarify her doubts during press availability after the event, Hartzler said: “I have doubts that it is really his real birth certificate, and I think a lot of Americans do, but they claim it is, so we are just going to go with that.”

~

Hartzler declined to say whether she believes Obama is a U.S. citizen, calling the issue “irrelevant” and said people should “focus attention on his specific policies and not his birth certificate.”

There we go. Bad policies. Barack Obama has bad policies, that is the important thing. So what sort of policies does Vicky Hartzler have, according to this same meeting with her constituents?

Well for one thing, Great Britain’s film industry is not doing enough to villainize the U.S.’s second-largest trading partner: “We need to have a new 007 James Bond movie with China as the bad guys,” she said, citing a report she read recently. “China has the largest spy network. They are stealing our intelligence from our corporations … it has the largest industrial espionage and stealing theft in history.”

Dave Spence (R-MO) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Huffington Post

Missouri gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence changed his online biography Thursday to fix a claim about a college economics degree and acknowledged that his campaign also had distributed fliers wrongly asserting that he attended business school at the University of Missouri.

The biographical adjustments come as Spence – a St. Louis businessman making his first political campaign – has been traveling the state trying to ramp up his challenge to Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon in 2012 elections. Spence’s campaign has emphasized his business acumen.

Spence, 53, has a degree in home economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia. But the biography on his campaign website originally omitted the word “home” while describing his economics degree – a fact first reported earlier this week by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Spence acknowledged that the description may have been misleading. (yeah, you think?)

Sharia law is like polio?

Via: Stltoday.com

~~~
Rep. Don Wells (R-Caboll)
Wells took a similar stance, if a less subtle one: That Islamic law is a dangerous influence on secular judicial proceedings.
“This is to protect the people of America,” Wells said of his bill.
He went on to compare Sharia law to a disease, like polio. Rep. Jason Kander, D-Kansas City, stopped him to confirm.
Sharia law is like polio?” Kander asked.
“Absolutely, as far as I’m concerned in this country,” Wells responded.
Kander, who spent time in Afghanistan gathering intelligence for the military, said he found that “offensive.”
personal thought:
Well, it was a good thing Jason Kander was looking for intelligence in Kabul Afghanistan; and not Caboll, Missouri.
I mean, solely lacking.
