Republicans Blast Nevada Rancher for Failing to Use Commonly Accepted Racial Code Words

Via: The Borowitz Report – New Yorker

Republican politicians blasted the Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy on Thursday for making flagrantly racist remarks instead of employing the subtler racial code words the G.O.P. has been using for decades.

“We Republicans have worked long and hard to develop insidious racial code words like ‘entitlement society’ and ‘personal responsibility,’ ” said Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky). “There is no excuse for offensive racist comments like the ones Cliven Bundy made when there are so many subtler ways of making the exact same point.”

Fox News also blasted the rancher, saying in a statement, “Cliven Bundy’s outrageous racist remarks undermine decades of progress in our effort to come up with cleverer ways of saying the same thing.”

Q: So Reince, once again we ask how is that ‘rebranding’ working out for ya, bud?

GOP Image Has Changed Little A Year After Planned Reboot

Via: Huffington Post

The Republican Party’s image has changed little in the year since GOP Chairman Reince Priebus published his prescription for broadening the party’s appeal despite its investment in outreach to the racial minorities, women and gay voters who backed Democrats decisively in 2012.

“The issue that remains an open book for the Republicans is: What is the character of the party?” said Ari Fleischer, a top aide to President George W. Bush, who helped author the report of the “Growth and Opportunity Project. “Are we a more inclusive and welcoming party yet?”

As the Republican National Committee opens its winter meetings here Wednesday, the party is counting on the political geography and expected lower turnout of the 2014 midterm elections to give them control of the Senate. If that happens, Fleischer said, it would be a “false narcotic” for the larger problems facing a party that has lost the national popular vote in five of the last six presidential elections. (Note: and Hilary Clinton will make it SEVEN of the last EIGHT presidential elections)

Those will take years to fix.

In the past year, Priebus has launched new efforts to reach out to racial and ethnic minorities, hired about 170 state-level staff — with more planned — and invested in technology to better track potential voters, a tactic Republicans pioneered and Democrats have perfected over the past eight years. He also renewed efforts to win over Hispanics nationally with voter outreach staffers.

But these structural changes can end the GOP’s White House losing streak only if its messengers fulfill the report’s larger goal: “Change course, modernize the party and learn once again how to appeal to more people”, said GOP spokesman Pepe Le Pew (See Photo).

Mitch McConnell (R-KY) – ‘GOP Moron of Day’

A press release distributed by Sen. Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) campaign at a “Women for Team Mitch” event on Friday brags about the Senate Minority Leader’s support for the Violence Against Women Act.

Even though McConnell VOTED AGAINST the measure in 1994, 2012, and 2013.

“Senator McConnell is the most unpopular senator among Democrats but Republicans as well.

There’s a reason he’s so disliked. He sowed the seeds of dysfunction, and after 30 years Senator McConnell is in the center of it. As long as he remains in D.C., D.C. will stand for dysfunctional capitol… The GOP has come to stand for gridlock, obstruction and partisanship.

If doctors told Senator McConnell he had a kidney stone, he’d refuse to pass it.”</em>

– Alison Lundergan Grimes, the young Kentucky Secretary of State who is challenging McConnell for his Senate seat.

RNC Chairman Compares Obama To Italian Cruise Ship Captain Accused Of Manslaughter

Via: Think Progress

RNC Chairman Reince ‘rent a boy’ Priebus compared President Obama to Francesco Schettino, the Italian cruise ship captain who took off in a lifeboat after his ship ran aground at Isola del Giglio, Tuscany and is suspected of multiple counts of manslaughter.

“In a few months, this is all going to be ancient history,” Priebus said in response to a question about the brutal GOP primary, “and we are going to talk about our own little Captain Schettino, which is President Obama who is abandoning the ship here in the United States and is more interested in campaigning than doing his job as president.”.
