U.S. Seen as Biggest Oil Producer After Overtaking Saudi Arabia (See Photo)

Via: Bloomberg

The U.S. will remain the world’s biggest oil producer this year after overtaking Saudi Arabia and Russia as extraction of energy from shale rock spurs the nation’s economic recovery, Bank of America Corp. said.

U.S. production of crude oil, along with liquids separated from natural gas, surpassed all other countries this year with daily output exceeding 11 million barrels in the first quarter, the bank said in a report today. The country became the world’s largest natural gas producer in 2010. The International Energy Agency said in June that the U.S. was the biggest producer of oil and natural gas liquids.

“The U.S. increase in supply is a very meaningful chunk of oil,” Francisco Blanch, the bank’s head of commodities research, said by phone from New York. “The shale boom is playing a key role in the U.S. recovery. If the U.S. didn’t have this energy supply, prices at the pump would be completely unaffordable.”

Oil extraction is soaring at shale formations in Texas and North Dakota as companies split rocks using high-pressure liquid, a process known as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. The surge in supply combined with restrictions on exporting crude is curbing the price of West Texas Intermediate, America’s oil benchmark. The U.S., the world’s largest oil consumer, still imported an average of 7.5 million barrels a day of crude in April, according to the Department of Energy’s statistical arm.

Steve Pearce (R-NM) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

The re-branding of the Republican Party (See Photo)

Republican lawmakers can’t seem to stop offending women, in spite of the GOP’s stated goal to attract women voters.

Rep. Steve Pearce (R-NM) explains in his recent memoir that it is the wife’s role to “voluntarily submit, just as the husband is to lovingly lead and sacrifice.”

The Washington Post reports that a chapter from Pearce’s new book emphasizes wives and husbands each have roles in the household, and the wife’s role is obedience. “The husband’s part is to show up during the times of deep stress, take the leadership role and be accountable for the outcome, blaming no one else,” Pearce writes. “The wife’s submission is not a matter of superior versus inferior; rather, it is self-imposed as a matter of obedience to the Lord and of love for her husband.”

Pearce maintains enough self-awareness to admit this conceit, which he attributes to the Bible, is unpopular. “The principle is among the most controversial of all directives coming from the Bible. Critics abound, both Christian and non-Christian.” He thinks too many of his friends “dealt with the directive by ignoring it.”

Saudi Billionaire Prince: Fracking Competitively Threatens ‘Any Oil Producing Country in the World’

Via: cnsnews.com

Saudi Arabia’s Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, a  billionaire businessman and nephew of Saudi King Abdullah, said the  production of shale oil and natural gas in the United States and other  countries, primarily done through fracking, is a real competitive threat  to “any oil-producing country in the world,” adding that Saudi Arabia  must address the issue because it is a “matter of survival.”

New shale oil discoveries “are threats to any oil-producing country in the world,” said Prince Alwaleed in an interview with The Globe and Mail.  “It is a pivot moment for any oil-producing country (OPEC) that has not  diversified. Ninety-two percent of Saudi Arabia’s annual budget comes  from oil. Definitely it is a worry and a concern.”

Allah loves me! This I know,
For the Koran tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.

Yes, Allah loves me!

Yes, Allah loves me!

Trump on OPEC – OPEC says “لدغة لي!” (Bite me!)

Via: Huffington Post

Trump blamed gas costs on the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), a conglomerate of developing nations responsible for 40 percent of global oil supplies. He said on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday that lowering the price of gas is as easy as telling OPEC’s members to do so — something he believes President Obama is incapable of.

When host Candy Crowley argued that the United States can’t control OPEC, Trump disagreed, saying our country only needs “brain power.”

Candy, it’s the messenger,” said Trump. “You know, I can send two executives into a room. They can say the same thing. One guy comes home with the bacon and the other one doesn’t. And I’ve seen it a thousand times. It’s the messenger.”

“SAUDI SLASH OIL OUTPUT, says market oversuplied”

Oil Ministers from Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates echoed Saudi Arabia’s  Ali al-Naimi’s concerns about oversupply and said rocketing crude prices were out of the hands of OPEC, which next meets in June.

“The market is overbalanced … Our production in February was 9.125 million barrels per day (bpd), in March it was 8.292 million bpd. In April we don’t know yet, probably a little higher than March. The reason I gave you these numbers is to show you that the market is oversupplied,” Naimi told reporters.

Unrest in North Africa and the Middle East has left Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations nervous of political instability and of a sharp fall in oil prices that could lead to a fiscal crunch while populations are restive.

The kingdom promised nearly $93 billion in handouts to its citizens in the wake of the wave of unrest that swept the Arab world this spring, making a sharp fall in oil prices a major risk for its budget.

Saudi Arabia and some other OPEC members unilaterally BOOSTED OIL PRODUCTION after the March uprising against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi shut down the bulk of the North African OPEC member’s oil industry but weak demand for the additional production appears to have prompted the REDUCTION IN OUTPUT.

Ali al-Niami didn’t realize his microphone was still on when he told Trump and his teabaggers, “لدغة لي!”

Arab League Endorses No-Flight Zone Over Libya

CAIRO — The Arab League asked the United Nations Security Council on Saturday to impose a no-flight zone over Libya in hopes of halting Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s attacks on his own people, providing the rebels a tincture of hope even as they were driven back from a long stretch of road and towns they had captured in the three-week war.

Opinion: If the Arab League wants to help the anti Qaddafi forces well fine, there are OTHER WAYS besides the U.S. being the main player (no-flight zone).

THEY can do something themselves; i.e. ARM the REBELS!

EGYPT is ranked is ranked 17th in the world

SAUDI ARABIA is ranked 25th in the world

And, if Egypt and K.S.A. isn’t enough, Sarkozy and Cameron can do ‘something’ besides talk, talk, and talk.

As of today, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have cost the lives of 5,502 Americans, and over $1TRILLION; enough already!

Bottom-line: to everyone who wants to drag the U.S. into a THIRD WAR, FCUK YOU!
