‘Xristian Xrazy’ explains why dragons are actually real creatures

Via: Raw Story

Dragons are in the Bible and therefore dragons are not mythological creatures, according to one author.

“The Bible speaks about dragons,” Darek Isaacs, author of the book Dragons or Dinosaurs, said on the program Creation Today earlier this year. “Our authority — everything we do we have to measure by the word of God, that is what I believe. So, we have to go to the Bible, and the Bible speaks about dragons.”

He remarked that both the Old and New Testaments compared Satan and other evil creatures to dragons.

Isaacs’ book argues that various ancient myths about dragons were actually based on human’s experiences with dinosaurs. As a young Earth creationist, Isaacs believes humans and dinosaurs coexisted, since both came into existence at the same time about 6,000 years ago.(SEE PHOTO)

“If dragons in fact were entirely mythological, if they were a figment of the imagination, and if they never ever did exist, then God just compared our adversary to a make-believe creature that never existed,” he said. 18-year-old, Eesha Khare – breakthrough invention can recharge phones in seconds

1

Via: Raw Story

An 18-year-old science student has made an astonishing breakthrough that will enable mobile phones and other batteries to be charged within seconds rather than the hours it takes today’s devices to power back up.

Saratoga, Calif. resident Eesha Khare made the breakthrough by creating a small supercapacitor that can fit inside a cell phone battery and enable ultra-fast electricity transfer and storage, delivering a full charge in 20-30 seconds instead of several hours.

The nano-tech device Khare created can supposedly withstand up to 100,000 charges, a 100-fold increase over current technology, and it’s flexible enough to be used in clothing or displays on any non-flat surface.

It could also one day be used in car batteries and charging stations not unlike those used by the Tesla Model S, which includes “supercharger” technology that promises to charge vehicles in 30 minutes or less.

(2 of 2) – Jindal’s ‘Louisiana School Voucher Program’ – Science syllabus

What they now will teach in Louisiana:

“Bible-believing Christians cannot accept any evolutionary interpretation. Dinosaurs and humans were definitely on the earth at the same time and may have even lived side by side (See photo) within the past few thousand years.”

Life Science, 3rd ed., Bob Jones University Press, 2007

Via: Huffington Post:

Under Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal’s sweeping new school voucher program, tens of millions of Louisiana taxpayer dollars will be used to offer vouchers to more than half of the state’s poor and middle-class public school students.

These students can in turn use these vouchers to attend more than 120 private schools, including a number of small, Bible-based learning institutions that boast extreme anti-science and anti-history curriculums while championing creationism.

Earlier this week, C. Welton Gaddy, the president of a national multi-faith religious group, blasted Jindal’s program in a letter to the governor, claiming the effort represents “a ruthless attack on public education” and violates the separation of church and state.

BEST. DAY. EVER.

Via: Huffington Post

President Barack Obama may have just had his favorite day as leader of the free world.

At a White House science fair on Tuesday, during which Obama announced a plan to request funding for a new Education Department competition to support math and science teacher preparation programs, Obama perused projects designed by more than 100 students from across the country.

With his science geek on full display, Obama also gleefully partook in a demonstration of the “Extreme Marshmallow Cannon,” blasting pillowy bits of sugar at the drapes of the State Dining Room. It’s safe to say the president was impressed by the contraption, built by 14-year-old Joey Hudy from Phoenix, Ariz.

During his address, Obama also made “a special plea” to the media, encouraging them to dedicate coverage to the issues that were raised at the event.

“Pay attention to this. This is important,” Obama said during remarks in the East Room. “This doesn’t just belong on the back pages of a newspaper. We’ve got to lift this up and emphasize how important this is and recognize these incredible young people. This is what inspires me and gets me up every day.”

Mars

Via: Huffington Post

While few things could seem more remote, some scientists now believe that the earliest traces of life on Earth originated on Mars — and parts of that planet are actually more hospitable to life than we previously thought.

Researchers from the Australian National University have determined that very large regions under the surface of the red planet may contain water and have sufficiently comfortable temperatures for Earth-based life — albeit microbial life.

‘Getting down to the nitty-gritty: Amazing microscopic images of household objects’

~

They’re innocuous objects that are dotted around every home.

But when brought to life under a powerful microscope their hidden secrets are revealed – and it doesn’t always make for comfortable viewing.

Scientists captured these stunningly detailed pictures using Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEMs).

SEMs work by bombarding the object with electrons and then build extreme close-ups of the image using a computer and transmission electro microscopes.

The images are produced in monochrome and then hand-tinted to enrich their detail.

SEMs are far more powerful than regular light microscopes that can only magnify by up to 1,000 times.

For this reason the microscope, which can magnify up to a MILLION TIMES, is popular with scientists and artists alike.
