Get a Real Job

Via: Eater

Many thanks to Twitterer @FutureExBanker for sending in this receipt as evidence that “my jerk boss tips exactly 1%” because he “loathes the 99%.” (And here’s hoping that doing so doesn’t make him or her a current ex-banker.)

The jerk boss also thinks that Breanna, a server at True Food Kitchen in Newport Beach, California, maybe ought to “get a real job.”

Well, she might have to if assholes keep on leaving her $1.33 on $135 tickets. Condolences to Breanna the server.

Sheldon Adelson Considers $100M Donation To Gingrich, But Says He’s ‘Against Very Wealthy People… Influencing Elections’

Via: Think Progress

Billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson has already given the pro-Newt Gingrich super PAC Winning Our Future $21 million this year.

Now, as his preferred candidate flounders in the polls, Adelson is floating the possibility of donating an ADDITION $100 MILLION.

A political contribution of that magnitude from a single source would be absolutely unprecedented. The next largest single contribution — a mere $5 million that “singlehandedly revived Gingrich’s campaign” last month — came from Adelson as well. All super PACs combined have raised $98.5 million this cycle, less than the possible $100 million Adelson check.

With net worth estimated at approximately $25 billion, Adelson is the eighth richest person in the United States. When asked if uber-wealthy plutocrats making political purchases of this magnitude was fair, he offered this response:

“I’m against very wealthy people attempting to or influencing elections,” he shrugs. “But as long as it’s doable I’m going to d0 it.”

Romney Fires Back at Occupy Heckler

Via: Huffington Post

Mitt Romney on Thursday reacted strongly to a heckler in Charleston, S.C., asking him what he, as part of the “1 percent,” plans to do for the 99 percent.

“Let me tell you something. America is a great nation because we’re a united nation. And those who are trying to divide the nation, as you’re trying to do here and as our president is doing, are hurting this country seriously. The right course for America is not to try to divide America and try and divide us between one and another. It’s to come together as a nation,” Romney fired back, according to the Washington Post. “And if you’ve got a better model — if you think China’s better, or Russia’s better, or Cuba’s better, or North Korea’s better — I’m glad to hear all about it.”

“But you know what?” the candidate added. “America’s right, and you’re wrong.”

Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom tweeted the video, calling it “GREAT VIDEO.”

Romney has said that concerns about Wall Street, financial institutions and income inequality are the result of “ENVY” and has accused President Barack Obama of promulgating the “politics of ENVY.”

We Are the 99 Percent

We are the 99 Percent.

We are getting kicked out of our homes.

We are forced to choose between groceries and rent.

We are denied quality medical care. We are suffering from environmental pollution.

We are working long hours for little pay and no rights, if we’re working at all.

We are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything.

We are the 99 percent.

(2 of 2) Newt®: ‘I Call On The President To Repudiate The Concept Of The 99 And The 1′

Via: Think Progress

2012 GOP presidential contender Newt Gingrich today, during an event in South Carolina, said that he repudiates the very idea behind the Occupy Wall Street movement — that the economy should work for everyone, not just the richest 1 percent — and called on President Obama to do the same:

I repudiate, and I call on the President to repudiate, the concept of the 99 and the 1. It is un-American, it is divisive, it is historically false…You are not going to get job creation when you engage in class warfare because you have to attack the very people you hope will create jobs.”

~

Gingrich may be spooked by the power of the narrative of the 99 percent, and is thus resorting to the tired charge of “class warfare” to deride anyone who points out the extent of income inequality in the U.S.

But a recent NBC-Wall Street Journal poll found that “60 percent of respondents strongly agreed that America’s economic imbalance comes from policies that favor the rich over the rest of the country,” while 55 percent “said income inequality is a significant problem in the country.”

(1 of 2) We Are the 99 Percent

I am 42 years old, with a graduate degree.

I am one of the lucky ones. I work three jobs. I am a teacher, an interpreter, and a braille processor.

I work as much as I can because I am the sole support of my household, and I am the only one with health insurance.

We live paycheck to paycheck.

I am lucky, but I too am part of the 99%

Crispus Attucks

Crispus Attucks (c. 1723 – March 5, 1770) was a dockworker of Wampanoag and African descent. He was the first person shot to death by British redcoats during the Boston Massacre, in Boston, Massachusetts. He has been called the first martyr of the revolution.

personal thought:

I don’t believe the ‘Occupy movement’ will lead to a 2nd American Revolution.

However, if the authorities/police continue to use excessive force to break up essentially ‘peaceful protests’, some of the protestors will no longer remain ‘peaceful’; that will not be good.
