Scott Walker (R-WI) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

In April 2010, Scott Walker and his staff realized they had a potential problem on their hands that would require them to quietly fire a woman who appeared to be completely competent at her job.

The issue was that she had what they perceived to be a “checkered” past: She used to be a thong model.

The revelation was contained in an email exchange between Walker, who was then Milwaukee county executive and is now Wisconsin’s Republican governor, and Thomas Nardelli, who at the time was his chief of staff. On Wednesday, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals released more than 27,000 (TWENTY SEVEN THOUSAND!) pages of documents that were part of the now-closed secret “John Doe” investigation into Walker’s time as county executive.

So far, SIX of his former aides and associates have been CONVICTED in connection with the case.

Walker learned about the problematic former thong model on April 5, 2010, when Nardelli emailed him about a woman who was hired as a doctor at the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division, which provides treatment for mental illness, substance use disorders and intellectual disabilities.

Nardelli said that the medical director had “failed to Google or MySpace” her, and it was “recently discovered that she has a checkered past and has done some modeling work.”

“It isn’t pornographic,” wrote Nardelli, “but it is quite suggestive (I’m told – I don’t know her name). He [sic] apparently models thongs and wasn’t forthright in sharing that with staff prior to her hire as an hourly paid MD at [Behavioral Health Division].”

He added that Behavioral Health Division leadership was looking at how to “release her without much fanfare” because John Chianelli, who was then the director of the division, was “concerned about having her on staff and subsequently having her Googled by staff only to learn of her ‘other life’ out side of her medical work. Apparently she’s competent, but even the Medical Director is dismayed that she has a varied life style outside of her medical profession.”

In response, Walker replied, “Get rid of the MD asap.”

Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop

Via: Huffington Post

We’ve seen plenty of weird crime mugshots and heard plenty of bizarre stories. But when it comes to criminal names, this one is … a mouthful.

Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop, 30, was arrested Thursday afternoon on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and a violation of probation in Madison, Wisc.

Zopittybop-Bop-Bop was born Jeffrey Drew Wilschke, according to court records unearthed by the Capital Times. He legally changed his name to Beezow Doo-Doo Zoopittybop-Bop-Bop in October.

According to Zopittybop-Bop-Bop’s apparent Facebook account, when he’s not in trouble with the law he enjoys activities including:

“Ron Paul”

He’s also single… so there’s that, ladies.

Zopittybop-Bop-Bop was apprehended by authorities after neighbors complained of “excessive drinking and drug use” around a local park, the Madison police report says.

Police say that when they took Zopittybop-Bop-Bop into custody, they found him in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a knife.

On his way to the prison, Zopittybop-Bop-Bop allegedly told cops that he would eventually “get even with them.”

Stealing from a vet, isn’t something I normally do; but hell, the dude is dead!

Via: Smoking Gun

A Wisconsin cemetery worker allegedly removed a valuable Fender guitar from the casket of a 67-year-old Army veteran who died last week and had told family members that he wanted to be buried with the instrument, which was his “pride and joy,” according to court records.

Steven Conard, a 39-year-old grounds worker at the Allouez Catholic Cemetery, was arrested Saturday and charged with felony “theft from person or corpse.” Conard, who plays in a band, reportedly confessed to stealing the Fender Telecaster when confronted at his Green Bay home by Brown County Sheriff’s Department deputies.

“This isn’t something I normally do,” Conard said, according to a Circuit Court criminal complaint. “I just have a respect for fine musical instruments (and the dead, not so much).”

note: The alledged cream-colored guitar was recovered from Conard’s alledged living room, where the alledged instrument was on the floor alledgedly “in plain view.”

Amber Hahn (R-WI) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Wonkette

Who says the GOP guys’ team gets to have all the DUI arrest fun these days?

That is sexist of them.

It’s not like Republican women aren’t also “pro-family values” sometimes, too!

See, here we go: Amber Hahn is was a Wisconsin county GOP chair who went on Fox News not long ago to POSE as a “random concerned parent” full of Panic and Outrage over the dangerous “pro-union propaganda” teaching of labor union history in public schools.

Then Hahn drove her car around drunk until it crashed while HER THREE CHILDREN were also riding in the car. That’s a little bit terrifying and hypocritical, you might say!

Eh, here is the thing about a “family values” politician, tho: danger to children only exists if it is utterly fictional. Real Danger does not count.

PORTAGE — The chairwoman of the Republican Party of Columbia County resigned  Friday after a drunken crash with her three children in her car.

Amber Hahn, 35, of rural Poynette, said she crashed her car Thursday night  while driving drunk, but that no one was hurt and that no other vehicles were  involved. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene from the  OnStar alert in her car, she said.

Columbia County District Attorney Jane Kohlwey said the incident took place  about 9 p.m. on Old B and Raddatz roads in the town of Springvale. Kohlwey, a  Republican, said she asked a special prosecutor (let me guess, another Republican?) from Dane County to handle the  case.

“It is clear to me now that I have lost focus and I am trying to do too much.  I have an addiction to alcohol and need to address it,” Hahn said in a  statement. Hahn is also a Poynette School Board member and volunteer  firefighter.

Governor Scott Walker (R-WI) – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Think Progress

Earlier this year, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker became one of the many GOP governors to sign a law disenfranchising voters who do not have a photo ID – law that disproportionately affects elderly voters, young voters, students, minorities and low-income voters. Having disenfranchised tens of thousands of Wisconsin voters.

Walker is now making it harder for many of these voters to obtain the ID they need to regain their right to participate in the next election:

Gov. Scott Walker’s administration is working on finalizing a plan to close as many as 10 offices where people can obtain driver’s licenses in order to expand hours elsewhere and come into compliance with new requirements that voters show photo IDs at the polls.

One Democratic lawmaker said Friday it appeared the decisions were based on politics, with the department targeting offices for CLOSURE in DEMOCRATIC areas and EXPANDING HOURS for those in REPUBLICAN districts.

[…] Rep. Andy Jorgensen, D-Fort Atkinson, called on the state Department of Transportation to reconsider its plants to close the Fort Atkinson DMV center. The department plans to expand by four hours a week the hours of a center about 30 minutes away in Watertown. […]

“What the heck is going on here?” Jorgensen said. “Is politics at play here?”

{Absolutely Brilliant!}

‘Wis. gov starts state worker recognition program’

After pushing to take away most of their collective bargaining rights, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is now proposing a program to recognize the hard work and dedication of state employees.

Walker announced the creation of the State Employee Recognition Program on Monday. He says it will honor state workers who go the extra mile in their service.

Walker says he is starting the program to “highlight the most outstanding employees with public recognition.”

No doubt, but it speaks to Walker’s hypocrisy.

Surprise! David Prosser Gains 7,500 Votes After ‘Human Error’ In Waukesha County

via: Huffington Post

In a dramatic turn of events on Thursday, the Waukesha County clerk (Kathy Nicholaus) announced that the vote total announced for Tuesday’s Wisconsin Supreme Court race had been mistaken — and that the corrected numbers changed the outcome of the entire election.

– There were 3,456 missing votes for Democratic-backed challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg

– 11,059 for incumbent GOP-backed Justice David Prosser

– Kloppenburg has previously been beating Prosser by just 200 votes of the roughly 1.5 million cast statewide.

–  The NEW TOTAL puts Prosser on a significant path to victory, about 7,500 votes ahead of Kloppenburg.

The article is ‘dramatic’, but the updates incuding these, are ‘simply outrageous’!

UPDATE: 9:17 p.m. — For 13 years, Nickolaus worked for the Wisconsin State Assembly Republican Caucus as a data analyst and computer specialist. She resigned in May 2002. [AP, 6/3/02]

From 1989-1994, Prosser served as Minority Leader. From 1995-1996, he was Speaker.

Nickolaus was a staff member during this time. As Wisconsin State Journal reporter Mary Spicuzza noted on Twitter, “Kathy Nickolaus worked for Assembly Republican Caucus when Prosser was Speaker. Caucus is controlled by speaker, so HE IS HER FORMER BOSS.”

UPDATE: 9:49 p.m.– Statement from state Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca (D):

The way Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus revealed her discovery of 14,300 previously uncounted votes raises disturbing questions, particularly in light of her past partisan history. She has been the subject of multiple complaints from other Waukesha officials on how she handles elections and keeps public information to herself outside the official county system where others can verify it.

The new Supreme Court race vote totals she “discovered” during canvassing not only swung the election but also put the race just barely past the amount needed to trigger a state-financed recount.

It is especially troubling that she waited more than 24 hours to report the startling discovery and then did so at a press conference and only after she verified the results. This makes it all the harder to challenge and audit the integrity of the vote.

The partisan, political history of Ms. Nickolaus and the serious concerns about the quality of her performance found in an audit raises the question of whether an investigation is warranted.

The public deserves to know that the votes were counted properly.

Yeah, you think?

WTF, do we need to bring in International Election Monitoring?

City buses – Out of Service – hopefully not, Out of Hope

via: Huffington Post

Peggy Schulz was fed up. In March, after being unemployed for nearly TWO YEARS, she performed an experiment: She went to a job-search website, limited the search to the Milwaukee area and typed in a simple term: “bus line.”

The results displayed what had long been plaguing her. Job posting after job posting featured similar caveats:

“this is not on a bus line”

“need reliable transportation not on bus line”

“positions are NOT on a bus line”

“our client that is not located on a bus line is interested in having you work …”

“Here it was in black and white,” she later recalled with a bitter laugh. “It’s been very frustrating to look through the want ads, look online, think about places I could work and realize, ‘Nope, can’t get there on the bus.'”

Schulz is 53. She has years of experience as a legal secretary. But she does not own a car.

Over the last decade, as Milwaukee County has inflicted relentless cuts to public transit, she has watched her primary means of transportation decay. After she was laid off in June 2009, a pattern emerged: She’d find what seemed like the perfect job opportunity, only to discover that bus service cuts had rendered it inaccessible.

Schulz, for her part, got the job. But it didn’t turn out to be all she had hoped. Now, she wants to look around for other work, but she dreads diving back into that process. That’s assuming she stays in Milwaukee.

“I might have to go to, I don’t know, Chicago, maybe? Canada?” she said in an email. “Any suggestions?”

Walker, who in recent months has championed a high-profile effort to strip unions of collective bargaining rights, was Milwaukee county executive before becoming governor. Elected in 2002 and serving until the end of last year, he presided over the bulk of the transit cuts.
