Ben Sasse (See Photo) R-NE – ‘GOP Moron of the Day’

Via: Raw Story

According to ThinkProgress, the winner of Tuesday’s Republican primary in Nebraska believes that the United States “cannot force citizens to violate their religious beliefs under any circumstance.”

“rising star Ben Sasse is predicted to win the Senate seat being vacated by Republican Mike Johanns in November by a wide margin, as Nebraska is a solid red state.

On his official campaign website, Sasse claims that he “believes that our right to the free exercise of religion is co-equal to our right to life. This is not a negotiable issue. Government cannot force citizens to violate their religious beliefs under any circumstances. He will fight for the right of all Americans to act in accordance with their conscience.”

~

As ThinkProgress’s Ian Millhiser and Josh Israel note, Sasse’s statement could allude to the upcoming Supreme Court decision as to whether Hobby Lobby can violate federal law if that law is not in accordance with the beliefs of its principle owners — a decision which the adamantly pro-life and virulently anti-Affordable Care Act candidate Sasse agrees. “Uncle Sam is in the abortion business for the first time in 41 years,” he wrote on Facebook. “It’s important to remind our neighbors of the urgency of standing up for the most vulnerable.”

~

Sasse’s belief that the government cannot compel a citizen to behave in a manner contrary to his or her religious beliefs “under any circumstances” goes even further. As Millhiser and Israel write, “[u]nder Sasse’s formulation of religious liberty, a person who killed his own sister because he believed he was under a religious obligation to do so would be immune from prosecution for murder (See Photo).

Pat Robertson – ‘Xristian Xrazy of the Day’

Christian nut Pat Robertson believes that Jesus would not have served gays because they would have been stoned to death instead. In fact, on March 27′s episode of The 700 Club, he seemed to long for the days when gays were stoned to death.

“I think you got to remember from the Bible, if you look carefully at the Bible what would have happened in Jesus’ time if two men decided they wanted to cohabit together, they would have been STONED to DEATH.

So Jesus would not have baked them a wedding cake nor would he have made them a bed to sleep in because they wouldn’t have been there. But we don’t have that in this country here so that’s the way it is.”

“The cockpit of an airliner is no place for a woman.”

Via: Yahoo

Carey Smith Steacy, a Canadian airline pilot with 17 years of experience, apparently received a blunt and critical letter from a distraught passenger recently. But the issue was not the pilot’s flying style, penchant for finding mid-air turbulence or poor bedside manner.

The issue at hand was the pilot’s ovaries, and the fact that she was not at home doting on children. Where, apparently, she is supposed to be.

“The cockpit of an airliner is no place for a woman,” reads a letter written on a napkin left aboard a Calgary flight to Victoria, B.C., obtained by Metro News. “A woman being a mother is the most honor. Not as ‘captain.’ Were (sic) short on mothers, not pilots WestJet.”

The letter further contained reference to a biblical verse and concludes, “In the end, this is all mere vanity.”

Family Life Council’s Jerry Boykin – ‘Xristian Xrazy of the Day’

Via: Right Wing Watch

1

Last fall, the Family Research Council’s Jerry Boykin spoke at the WallBuilders’ Pro-Family Legislators Conference where he declared that when Jesus comes back, he’ll do so carrying an AR-15 assault rifle.

As Boykin explained once before, Jesus was a tough guy and real “man’s man,” and that is because he is a warrior who will come back covered in the blood of his enemies and carrying an assault rifle … which is why every Bible believing Christian must own one as well.

The Lord is a warrior and in Revelation 19 is says when he comes back, he’s coming back as what? A warrior. A might warrior leading a mighty army, riding a white horse with a blood-stained white robe … I believe that blood on that robe is the blood of his enemies ’cause he’s coming back as a warrior carrying a sword.

And I believe now – I’ve checked this out – I believe that sword he’ll be carrying when he comes back is an AR-15.

Now I want you to think about this: where did the Second Amendment come from? … From the Founding Fathers, it’s in the Constitution. Well, yeah, I know that. But where did the whole concept come from? It came from Jesus when he said to his disciples ‘now, if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.’

I know, everybody says that was a metaphor.  IT WAS NOT A METAPHOR! He was saying in building my kingdom, you’re going to have to fight at times. You won’t build my kingdom with a sword, but you’re going to have to defend yourself.  And that was the beginning of the Second Amendment, that’s where the whole thing came from. I can’t prove that historically and David [Barton] will counsel me when this is over, but I know that’s where it came from.

And the sword today is an AR-15, so if you don’t have one, go get one. You’re supposed to have one. It’s biblical.

Mike Lewis – ‘Xristian Xrazy of the Day’

Via: Mock Paper Scissors

Vacaville, California Fellowship Baptist Church Pastor Mike Lewis is accused of encouraging three homeless people in his church’s care to throw a Molotov cocktail through the front window of his ex-girlfriend’s parents’ house.

When asked if he paid these three homeless people in his charge to terrorize his ex-girlfriend, he only said that “[t]hat’s a sad statement, because I never did pay them.”

The Theology of Government Shutdown: ‘Xristian Xrazy’ Dominionism

1

Via: Huffington Post

On the eve of our government shutdown, I wanted to do some research into the theological roots of Senator Ted Cruz, the standard-bearer of the Tea Party Republicans behind the shutdown. I’m interested in understanding what account of Christianity creates the “no compromise” crusade that the Tea Party has become known for. It turns out that Ted’s father, Rafael Cruz, is a pastor with Texas charismatic ministry Purifying Fire International who has been campaigning against Obamacare the last several months. He has a distinct theological vision for what America is supposed to look like: Christian dominionism.

“When you hear this attack on religion, it’s not really an attack on religion. The fundamental basis is this. Socialism requires that government becomes your God. That’s why they have to destroy your concept of God. They have to destroy all your loyalties except loyalty to the government. That’s what’s behind homosexual marriage. It’s really more about the destruction of the traditional family than about homosexuality, because you need also to destroy loyalty to the family.”

“Today, many evil forces have set their sights on the dissolution of marriage and the debasing of family life,Sodomy, abortion, contraception, pornography, the redefinition of marriage, and the denial of objective truth are just some of the forces threatening the stability of our civilization. The source of these machinations is none other than the Father of Lies. Satan

Sandy Rios – ‘Xristian Xrazy of the Day’

1

A Christian radio host warned on Monday that a strike on Syria could be doomed to fail because of a “homosexual takeover” of the U.S. military.

The American Family Association’s Sandy Rios told her listeners that she opposed an attack on Syria because it the “nature” of Secretary of State John Kerry to LIE about Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons.

“There’s a second reason and that is military readiness,” she continued. “When I looked at those battleships (SEE PHOTO) going into the Mediterranean, supposedly getting ready for battle in Syria, I couldn’t help think about all the stories I’ve read about how women now are in the ranks of the Navy, getting pregnant at exponential numbers.”

Personal Thought:

Perhaps Ms Rios would be in favor of ‘shipboard’ abortion on request.

Naw, probably not.
